The Beginning;
Scoopermarket
opened on 25th of June 2011 but the idea came up nearly a year before. Whilst tidying our kitchen cupboards it
became apparent that we seemed to be throwing away a lot of ingredients that had gone out of date. Due to the size of packets
and boxes only a small amount had actually been needed for the cooking or baking that we bought them for in the first place.
The amount of food that was once perfectly edible but now ended up in the bin made us wonder how many other people have been
in the same situation.


This reminded us of a shop that used
to exist in Portsmouth, where we are originally from, that sold food loose in barrels. After a bit of research we discovered
that these types of shops were once all over the south coast but they had all disappeared. As we were already looking at running
our own business when the right one came up for sale we decided that we should start one up from scratch and bring back this
way of shopping to the area. After quite a few months of searching for the right premises along with hours on the internet
looking to find a suitable supplier we managed to put together the ingredients and Scoopermarket was born.
